We have been made aware of an email scam phishing campaign currently targeting clients of financial services firms, including firms who are part of our Network, and may also be targeting Nexus clients.
What’s happening?
Fraudsters are sending emails that may appear to come from an IFA firm or one of their advisers/representatives. These emails may look genuine — they often use a very similar email address (sometimes with just one extra letter different) and may even copy branding and email footers.
The messages typically promote an investment opportunity with a very high “guaranteed” return and may urge you to act quickly. Scammers often offer a bonus or discount if you invest quickly, or they may say the opportunity is only available for a short time.
Please be cautious, these emails are not from us, and the investment offers are not legitimate. We would never send unsolicited investment offers to our clients. These emails have NOT been sent from us and we would therefore strongly advise any clients who receive them NOT to respond, NOT to click on links and NOT to open any attachments.
How to protect yourself:
Always check the sender’s email address carefully — look out for small changes or extra characters.
Be wary of unexpected investment offers, even those that appear to come from a trusted source, especially those promising unusually high returns.
If something doesn’t feel right, don’t respond — if something seems to good to be true it usually is.
If you're unsure if an email is from us then get in touch with us directly, using the contact details you already have, but do not click reply to any suspicious email you have received.
Never send money or provide personal or financial information in response to an unsolicited email.
If you’ve received a suspicious message that purports to come from us, or have any concerns, please contact us immediately. We’re here to help.
Thank you for staying vigilant.
